Poker Tournament Coming to an
End
January
13, 2009
The North Dakota Texas Hold’em
Poker Championship is at long last in its final days at the Vegas Hotel in
Minot, and many are waiting with baited breath to see who the ultimate
winner is likely to be. For a poker tournament that started with so very
many players, for it to be finally winding down is somewhat of a relief for
many as it has seemed like a long battle.
However, it actually only took two days for the poker tournament to whittle
away more than 1,300 players to come down to less than a hundred. They had
two days of qualifying rounds and as of tonight there will only be ten
sitting down at that final poker game. With this being the fifth year that
the tournament has been in town, it has grown substantially in players over
the years – with just a few attending that first year and many, many more
attending this year.
The first year they say that they simply tried to get about 300 poker
players to show up, and this year their goal was 1,300. They have easily
surpassed that mark, and it is expected that they will be over 2,000
players. Some of them say that with that many people vying for the final
poker table, some really good players get eliminated earlier on, and that it
is really tough to get a seat at the final table.
Some of the biggest players have finished in the top 100 or 200, but will
not make it to the poker table this evening. For those that at least made it
to the top 100 they will each get a cash prize, with obviously those who
finish on top getting more than those who finish before them. Whoever takes
the top seat will take home $35,000.
