Poker Site Changes Name
January
27, 2009
The popular poker magazine Inside Edge has changed its name to Inside Poker
according to a recent news release from the company. Dennis Publishing, the
UK publishing house that handles the magazine, said that they are changing
the name because poker is much more an intrinsic part of the magazine than
it ever was before.
When the magazine first got its start, they really only focused on sports
betting, and have since changed their focus to be more of a poker magazine.
They have two other magazines that also focus on poker, Total Gambler and
Poker Player, but this magazine goes after the experienced poker player
rather than the amateur.
The magazine was only on sale for about a year when they realized that most
of their players were looking for more of a poker magazine than a sports
betting magazine. They listened to their customers and got feedback as to
where they should be putting their focus and changed it to poker and did not
really handle other sports after that.
The publisher Richard Downey said that by changing the name they had really
put the last piece in place. They said that the magazine had been evolving
and was now a poker magazine, but the name did not reflect that change. They
said that once they started focusing more on poker they saw their current
readership grow as more people were pleased with the addition of the poker
information. However, with the name not really saying who they were, they
felt that they were losing out on a large possible number of additional
clientele.
