Asian Poker Tour Adds Another Event
January
14, 2009
Poker fans were excited to learn that the Asian Poker Tour has added another
event to their line up. The poker tour will now include a pot-limit Omaha
tournament to their already full lineup. The Asian Poker Tour will be
running from January 27th through February 1st at the Dusit Thani Manila
Hotel in Makati, Philippines.
The poker event is already being touted as the first ever Omaha event for a
major poker tour in Asia, and is expected to have a huge turnout. The Asian
Poker Tour is returning to the island because they truly had a great turnout
last year. The spring event had three preliminary poker tournaments plus a
$2,500+$200 buy in for their main event.
The only difference between last year and this year is that last year all
four of their poker events were no limit hold’em games. Last year an
Australian, David Saab took home the main event prize. He lasted longer than
anyone else, and he was battling 316 players for that top title. He took
home $280,000 and defeated Korean Chris Roh to take the title.
Four of the other preliminaries this year are no-limit hold’em events, but
some are going to vary from the normal full table, freeze out format. They
are having a bounty event, a rebuy event, and a six handed event. They are
also offering a 13 card poker event – which is good because it is probably
one of the most popular events in Asia.
