Celebrities Promoting
Online Gaming
It seems that an
increasing number of celebrities are being used to promote online
gaming and poker sites. If you are of the mentality of
successfully marketed gambling sites like Bodog, using a
recognizable face and name to serve as an official spokesperson
and/or promoter, is one of the main ingredients to achieve optimized
brand recognition.
Take the television
spokesperson and model, Brooke Burke, for example. Burke is
very popular (probably more so than any online poker room by
itself). It is inevitable that Burke's popularity will bleed
into anything she is associated with. For instance, the term
"Brooke Burke" gets entered into search engines many times in a
single day. You can bet that some of the results that come up
on Burke are tied to the gaming site she is promoting. here is
a case where you get somebody finding out about a gaming site they
were not even looking for to begin with. One point for brand
recognition right there.
Even celebrities that
are not as popular as burke are being courted by online poker rooms.
(Doyle's poker room is widely known for getting male actors to show
up at promotional events and tournaments). The reason is that
as long as the celebrity's name is recognizable, players will be
more likely to remember the gambling site he or she is associated
with - They may be even more inclined to play there!
The good thing about all
of this is that the trend shows online poker and casino gambling
becoming more of a mainstreamed, widely accepted activity. In
terms of governmental acceptance and regulation, it's one more
reason why it is a necessary and inevitable step in the evolution of
online casinos, poker rooms, and the online gambling industry in
general.
