Overview
As far as Atlantic City
casinos go, online poker
players have to agree that
none of them have reinvented
themselves as completely as
this one has. Known to many
locals as The Trop, in 2004,
this casino resort opened
its new complex The Quarter.
This massive Cuban theme
area of the casino resort
was just the beginning of
things to come, too. Next
year, this casino resort
will enter into yet another
phase of upgrades that will
have a price tag of $25
million attached to it. This
year’s improvements have
included upgraded hotel
rooms in the north tower
section of the resort that
included completely
modernized amenities that
all discerning guests would
appreciate when heading to a
vacation getaway.
The casino received 800 new
slots for those of you out
there that love hitting the
slots. The south casino
section got a face lift in
its design. This is the
section of the casino that
directly leads out into the
new Cuban (The Quarter)
area.
Next year, the north end of
the casino will be revamped
along with the south hotel
tower section. All main
table games (including poker
tables for those of you
online poker players out
there) will also be
refurbished next year.
The old Beachfront Buffet
has reinvented itself as the
Fiesta Buffet and is a great
new complement to the new
Cuban/Latin theme the casino
resort is taking on. Now at
the buffet, there is seating
for up to 475 customers.
This is 125 more places to
sit than the previous
buffet.
The next major project in
the works for The Tropicana
is a massive $100 million,
500-room boutique hotel that
will be built on a vacant
lot near the existing casino
resort. This new hotel will
be called the Belmont Hotel
Resort. This new resort will
have dining, shopping, a
health club and a huge 1,500
space parking structure. In
the design plans, there is
an innovative approach to
town homes along with a roof
top pool area, nightclub and
bar. This will be one cool
roof. AT this time, The
Tropicana has 1,600 hotel
rooms and suites. The Havana
Tower (part of the boutique
hotel) will create 500 more.
Guests can pick from 3
different styles of luxury
suites. These include multi
level suites with wet bars,
dining areas as well as
living areas on one floor
with sweeping staircases
that lead to living quarters
with a Jacuzzi tub.
The Casino
Known from day one as the
slot paradise of Atlantic
City because of its
innovative promos and vast
selection of slot machines,
this casino is branching out
and adding more things that
you online poker players out
there will love – a poker
room. The large casino area
includes 172 table games and
over 4,000 slots. The
Crystal Room is just what
high rollers expect –
lavish. This high roller
area contains high limit
games and slot machines
along with full services
that the most discriminating
of players expects. Think
high back chairs flat screen
TVs. The slots have cable TV
capabilities for ADD players
that need to watch TV while
gambling.
Restaurants
With the new addition of The
Quarter, The Tropicana has
the most diverse dining
experiences in Atlantic
City. AT the top of the list
is The Palm. This classic
steakhouse comes with an
impressive wine list,
colossal lobsters, and even
has Italian dishes. When
waiting for your meal, you
will be entertained by many
interesting caricatures of
famous (even notorious)
people hanging on the
surrounding walls of the
restaurant.
The Red Square is
magnificent dining
experience where guests can
enjoy an impressive Russian
menu. When we said diverse
we meant it. Where else in
Atlantic City can you get
fabulous Russian food?
Carmine’s has family –style
Italian fare. This New York
based restaurant offers a
great selection of popular
Italian recipes that your
whole party can share with
each other.
Keeping in step with The
Quarter’s Cuban/Latin vibe,
be sure to check out Cuba
Libre. This Cuban restaurant
comes with an exceptional
reputation that is
complemented by striking
décor that will make you
feel as if you were in
Havana, Cuba (think 1940s
and all).
P.F. Changs is a well known
Asian bistro that has been a
great addition to The
Tropicana. Many of you
online poker players out
there may have one of these
in your city. When at P.F.
Changes you must try the
Lettuce Wraps. This place
also has a surprisingly good
wine list.
Other eats located at The
Trop are Corky’s BBQ, Il
Verdi, Adam Good Deli, Adam
Good Crab Shack, Golden
Dynasty, and Wellington
Steak and Seafood. For
desserts and nothing but,
try Brulee. The nightclubs
Ri-Ra and The Sound of
Philadelphia even have
authentic items.
Entertainment
When online poker players
visiting this resort and
casino are not hitting the
poker tables, they can enjoy
many different entertainment
offering. In The Quarter,
Planet Rose provides live
bands and karaoke. You will
stumble upon magicians and
street performers (with
Salsa music all around) as
you walk through this area
as well. Tango’s Lounge has
cozy area with live music.
The Showroom hosts
headlining acts. This resort
hosts many comedians as a
great alternative to dancing
if you would rather sit down
an laugh your a*# off.
Night Life
Yes, this casino resort has
great night club offerings.
Planet Rose, 32 Degrees Luxe
Lounge, Ri-Ra Irish Pub,
TSOP are all located within
The Quarter and make for
perfect pub crawling. Even
the Red Square has an
impressive bar. Many of you
online poker players that
have been to Mandalay Bay in
Vegas are familiar with this
haunt. If you are a vodka
drinker – this is your
heaven. Think of being able
to choose from more than 100
different vodkas. We didn’t
even know there were 100
different types of vodka
when we visited this place.
Spas
In The Quarter, you will
find an oasis where you can
indulge in indulgence. After
any of you online poker
players have sat at a table
