Bally’s Atlantic City

Overview

This casino resort has been a long standing institution on Atlantic City’s famous Boardwalk. In fact, it has been around since 1979. If you are an online poker player that has been to Atlantic City, you probably recognized Bally’s by its purple colored hotel tower that is central to the casino resort’s several property sections. Bally’s is probably the most entertaining resort to walk through as it has many different areas offering guests different themes and experiences. In addition to this resort’s Park Place Casino (think Monopoly), there is a Wild Wild West section – this was the first themed casino on the Boardwalk. The Claridge, which is situated one block back off of the Boardwalk, is also part of the Bally’s experience. This was added to the property in 2002. Think of Bally’s as a compound of properties incorporated into one.

This casino resort is older and is getting ready to take on a complete overhaul of its entire complex. Harrah’s Entertainment recently purchased Bally’s and is its parent company. The acquisition take place last year when Harrah’s bought Caesars Entertainment. Caesars used to own Bally’s. Talk about a Monopoly, just kidding. Anyway, now that this complex is owned by Harrah’s, it needs to keep up with the company’s standards – so a major facelift is getting underway.

Many of you online poker players out there know how popular slots are, too. Well, Bally’s Atlantic City is extremely popular for its Pennyville slots located in the Claridge area. This is where you just might see that famous little Monopoly Man running around.

Now, the main hotel tower of Bally’s has already undergone a complete renovation. This upgrade set the casino resort back by $11.5 million and it created a stylish new environment in the tower’s 700 hotel rooms. The tower includes 4 floors of unique hotel suites.

Gambling

Whether you are an online poker players heading to a land casino for the first time or a seasoned gambler, this massive 18,000 sq, ft. casino space has something for you. Actually, since Bally’s is a complex of smaller properties, there are a few casinos you can choose from here. For a classic Vegas vibe, head to the original Bally’s casino. If you are looking to play inexpensive slots in a down to earth environment, head to the Claridge area, this place is a slot player’s heaven. You can head to the Wild Wild West casino where there are even more slots in its new Coyote Kate’s Slot Parlor. Again, this is another slot machine heaven for those of you who like slots. At Bally’s there are 200 table games. Online poker players in town can check out Billy’s Poker Parlor. This was the first poker room in Atlantic City and it has a choice of twenty poker games. There is the Park Place Video Poker area that is very popular with online poker players, too. This is the largest video poker progressive machine area in all of Atlantic City. For the high limit slot lovers, there is the Gold Room. Sportsbook fans have two to choose from at Bally’s. There is even a keno parlor for keno players. There is even a Wild Wild West Poker Corral that has ten games to pick from for poker players.

If you haven’t picked up on the massive size of this complex yet you will. The Wild Wild West casino just opened Little Joe’s Video Poker Parlor, again – one of the city’s largest. One thing we noticed about this video poker parlor was that the stools were adjustable. This is actually worth noting because of the comfort! Since we love playing online poker in the comforts of our own homes and all, this is a cool perk. Last but not least, there is the Pennyville slot area with about 150 slots in the Claridge section of Bally’s. This is the best place for those of you who love to play cheap.

Restaurants

Since this is a multi property casino, you can probably imagine that there will be a vast selection of places to eat at Bally’s. We will start by telling you about Arturo’s, one of this resort’s steakhouses. It features seafood and Italian fare as well. There is Prime Place (award winning) for more steak offerings. This is the place for a great brunch on Sundays. At night, this is a great place for a view of Atlantic City’s casinos with all the lights and glitz. Yes, one more steakhouse (remember, we are talking complex of casinos). It is called The Twenties Steakhouse located in the Claridge. It is nestled in a quiet corner on the 6^th floor. For Chinese, Mr. Ming’s is highly recommended and very popular.

For casual fare, try a burger at Johnny Rockets or head to Pickles, a fantastic deli that is the best in Atlantic City.

Gatsby’s Grill and Oyster Bar is a great place to satiate that late night craving after a long poker game.

Dessert anyone? Try Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.

Entertainment

For free live music on the weekends, check out the Mountain Bar. Bally’s has on of the best halls in the city for catching famous singers and more. It is called the Boardwalk Hall and has a very impressive summer schedule. Even the Claridge has a decent sized, 550 seat Palace Theater. This is where the popular Price is Right Stage Show ids hosted.

Night Life

The Blue Martini is a must see. This very hip martini bar is one of the trendiest spots in Atlantic City. Think martinis for days here. The Bikini Beach bar is outdoors and on the beach, very casual and fun.
