Is Texas Hold'em all it's
cracked-up to be?
Sure, it's the most
popular casino game played all over the world right now, but is it
all it is cracked-up to be? Are we all just following suit (no pun
intended) with this poker game by watching every minute of cable TV
in order to see what the pros are doing? Are we buying all those
expensive new poker chips with the cool silver cases just to impress
our Friday Night poker pals, or do we truly love this game for how
it is actually played?
Whatever the case, it's
being done all over the world. For the most part, this game has
romanced Americans to the point that 4 out of 10 of us just received
a holiday gift that had something to do with poker playing. Has the
marketing of this casino game gone too far?
It's not even about
online casino gambling either. Yes, millions of people play this
game online everyday - for real money, some just for free. But, it
seems like the past two busy retail holiday seasons that all of us
have encountered at least one major display of poker paraphernalia
at our local retailer. Come on, did you really think the extra card
decks in the impulse section next to the register was just a
coincidence?
In this crazy world (at
least in the US) we love to do what the other people are doing.
Because of this, we are seeing a total influx of all things Texas
Hold'em. Depending on which side of the street you stand on the
issue, its great or you could take it or leave it. We guess from the
sizable amount of people taking interest that it's great. After
After all, who is it
hurting. Retailers are happy. Online casinos are happy. Millions of
people are apparently happy that they have a new online pastime
and/or Friday Night poker game going. Professional poker players
have to be extremely happy - they are making more money than ever
that's for sure. In fact, many of them are highly sought after
celebrities now. Heck, poker pros are making cameo shots in major
motion pictures and movie stars are making extra cash by playing in
some of the most popular pro poker tourneys.
We guess the bottom line
is that Texas Hold'em is an excellent poker game. It takes passion,
strategy, know-how to play it properly. Hold'em is a complex casino
game and it is very clear that most poker players love it. No matter
if it's everywhere you look, as long as you are playing it for the
right reasons - go ahead. As long as it doesn't interfere with your
personal finances (meaning addiction), play it, bet money on it if
you want, play for free, play it in your basement with a group of
friends. Just don't play it because its what you see on TV.
